NOT YET!!!

I dropped the girls off at daycare this morning like I usually do. There's a boy in Mallory's group, Anthony. He's about 2-3 months younger that her. Here of late she runs up to him and give him a hug. Nothing alarming about that.

Today, she gave him his morning hug. I was talking with his mom who works there and then looked down to him and Mallory to find them kissing.

Not just kissing but OPEN MOUTH KISSING!!!!

"MALLORY!! Cut that out!"

She stopped, turned around and looked me, pouted, and walked off.

I Need A Cow

Or rather, Mallory does.

I've resorted to buying two gallons of milk every week to keep up with her! Last week Steve suggested I fill her sippy cup with water. So I gave it a try.

I put the water in front of her and she looked at it. Then she looked up at me. I knew exactly what was running through her head, "I can see through this cup and I can see through you. I am no amused."

HEY LADY!!!

Saturday Mallory and I were getting ready to head to the mall for some walk-n-talk time. All you have to tell Mallory is, "Let's go bye-bye." and she's half-way down the stairs looking for her coat. Apparently I wasn't moving fast enough for her. I was in the kitchen and could see her about 20' feet away from me. We could see each other when she hollered at the top of her lungs,

"MOMMA!! MOMMA!!!"

"What?!?!"

"Hi!"

Good thing she's cute....

Update - Mallory now has pink eye. YAY DAYCARE!!!

All Hail The Cheezy Poof!!

One of Mal's favorite snacky foods are Cheezy Poofs from Gerber. They're not really called that. We call them that thanks to "South Park."

These things have some serious bargaining power with Mallory. For instance, if she's antsy in her chair and we need a few minutes to something around the house we pour out some Poofs and she quiets right up and goes to town.

Yesterday after I came home from the store Steve and the girls walk in. Mallory is wandering around the kitchen looking in the bags of food when she spots the familiar can.
She then proceeds to try her hand at openeing the can. When she realizes she can't do it, she walks up to me and hold the can in front of her, wimpering, waiting for me to open the can for her. Fer cryin' out loud, kid, yer not going to waste away!

Never underestimate the power of The Cheezy Poof!

Knot Head

I've been keeping you all updated on the progress of Mallory and her mobility, and, my subsequent concern of her being this mobile at such a young age.

And I've said that Jenna didn't even start crawling until 10 months, walking at 14 months. Granted, Mallory is a bit smaller than Jenna so there's less of her to move.

But I had read in the past that the longer a baby waits to walk, the better. Vision is better, reflexes are better, muscles are stronger.

People think it's a good thing that Mallory is walking.

No, no it isn't.

Mainly it's becuase she's growing up too quickly. With Jenna we wanted her to grow up so we could watch it. With Mallory we want her to slow waaaaaaaaay down. Alas, tis not meant to be.

So here is physical proof that children should not walk until after they've turned a year old. The oldest one (on her right/your left) happened last week when she lost her balance at daycare and whacked her head on the end of the rocking chair. The newest one (on her left/your right) happened Sunday when she was walking down the hall and lost her balance and whacked her head on the corner of a door frame. Steve had his back turned and heard it, but I saw it.

It wasn't a pretty sight.
Steve chimes in, all perky, "So can I call her 'Knot Head' now??"

*sigh* "Yes, Steve.....you may now call her 'Knot Head'."

Mallory's 8 months old!!

Well, here's Mallory, already 8 months old! Some things she's accomplished this month include: Cutting another tooth to make two bottom ones. Methinks she's cutting a third tooth on top as her appetite is down and her hiney is all red. Still doesn't drool like Jenna did.

She's very close to crawling; she'll get onto her hands and knees and crawl with her arms but her legs stay put. So it looks like she lunges.

She's rolling like it's going out of style. And she's fast, too! She can pull herself up to her knees and sometimes to a stand. Last weekend I lowered the crib mattress.

She's wicked fast in snatching something off the table or off/from you. She's got this damnable reach; gee, I wonder who she got THAT from!

Jenna likes to try and drag her around to which Mallory squawks her displeasure rather loudly.

Still not sure why we signed up for the second child.....but we're still smiling, even if it's alcohol-induced!
